Yes, ladies and gentelmen (and why don´t misses too!), '10/'11 summer season has already begun in our house!
The 33°C (91.4°F) that showed the thermometer deserved a dip in the pool. The water was more than cold (look at my sons' faces, their mother (myself) is taking too long to take the picture!!!!)

Believe me when I say this cake is one of those you will adop for ever. Is the tipical recipe that will make you a cooking queen and will never dissapoint you. Now, to the recipe.

Ingredientes:

180 grs. de manteca
180 grs. de azúcar
5 yemas
5 claras a nieve

Ingredients:

180 grs. butter
180 grs. sugar
5 egg yolks
150 grs. bittersweet chocolate
90 grs. self-rising flour
90 grs. grounded almonds in shell (and this is very important!)
5 egg whites

Mix the butter with the sugar to a cream point. Add the egg yolks and melted chocolate. Add the flour and processed almonds.
Beat the egg whites and incorporate them into the preparation. Pour mixture into a greased and floured pan of 22 cm. diameter and bake it in medium oven for 40 minutes.

Nota:

Note:
Originally, this cake has blueberries added to the preparation once you have put it into the pan. I do not use them because I would fill it with strawberries and cream but the original form is very good and the acidity of cranberries goes well with chocolate.
The result of this cake is a rather compact and moist cake, to obtain this is essential the incorporation of processed almonds (not roasted) with skin.

Once the cake is cool, fill with strawberries and cream or cream with strawberries, as you like.
Finally, for the chocolate ganache boil 250 cc. of cream in a pan. When the first boiled appears incorporate to a bowl with the same amount of bittersweet good quality chocolate.
Mix with wooden spoon to unite the two ingredients.
It is important to add the cream over the chocolate and not the reverse, as it can cut the preparation by the temperature difference.

This preparation can be used warm or cold. When it is cool becomes thick and is ideal for filling cakes, in muffins decoration and more.
While is warm poure it over the cake and let it cool. As decoration, I cut some strawberries to inform our guests what they will find inside.

Una voz, muchos recuerdos - One voice, many memories

To listen to Pavarotti is, inevitably, going back to childhood. A bicycle rides with training wheels, the smell of fresh coffee, the noise of the electric saw in my grandfather's and my dad's carpentry, Sundays afternoons, my grandfather singing a canzonetta and so many other little memories that are a big one.
My family is completely Italian and just only listen Italian connects me to my rooth. And if we add Pavarotti, my connection is bigger.
It is part of my Italian side, part of the family. So much, that when he left, I felt as if someone from my family left again.
Play Nesun Dorma, is to remember my father, my grandfather, so much sacrifice. It produces a sweet pain that brings tears to eyes. Is to feel alive and to revive.
If you want to feel this song, it will only take 4 minutes.

Today I am remembering Lucian

I search into cyberspace to get what I needed. I found this beautiful coffee set from China, they say, from the '30s, they say, Mahumon brand. I was lucky enough to buy it, I fell in love with it inmediately. Notice the detail of the coffepot, which flower has a fall special shape like lying down, resting.
The other coffe set was my grandmother's, I believed she brought it from Italy or if not , was the first one she bought when she arrived. And this is something I wanted also to have, because as a child I have the memory of wishing to play with these little cups, which I could never do of course.

I have the difficult task of empty the house of my grandmother.
Which is also a very touching things to do since many objects appear, objects that I haven't seen for a long time. They bring with them the memory of the moments lived. Among several things that I find, some I decide to keep and others not, I came across this old box tea that my grandmother used to keep her buttoms, sissors and threads. And every time I see it I remember her asking me for the box to sew a button! Funny! in the front appears a grandmother and her granddaughter drinking tea! The coffee grinder was also hers.
Finally I appeal to Marcela's Good Things Store who helped me with the jag and the stick to make ravioli to finish the corner. The collection of ladles soup was also in her house, she was an excellent cook!
Unfortunately life takes away youth and trapped us in a body and a mind that sometimes we don't know.

Desenterrando tesoros - Treasures coming out

This is what remains of an antique Finnish china, Arabia, that I inherited. A soup pot, a teapot, a pitcher, a salad bowl and a meat source that still use. The cutlery was bought from a friend of my mother's in year 2000. As she knew my craziness for antiques, offered tit to me. She haven't used it for a long time and really took to much room (because it came in a cabinet). And yes, I always willing to help people!
The tablecloth is a treasure from my grandmother. The cotton is excellent, those that no longer exist, and the embroidery is handmade. If I'm not mistaken, she did it when she was young (and of course, that is why I love manual labor; it passed through generations).

The truth is that being Tuesday, still can not get over the trouble that generated this terrible hailstorm which fell in the north of Buenos Aires and other places on Sunday afternoon. While no one in our family was hurt, the damage was quite substantial, but it is only that, damage.

I show some photos we took of the stones. You can not imagine that it can fall from the sky!
